Tennessee fell short against a talented opponent once again on Saturday in a 19-14 loss to Alabama, but unlike the other losses, this one wasn’t looked at as a disappointment, but as an encouragement.

The Vols went on the road and went toe to toe with an Alabama team that has a good chance at making the College Football Playoff.

The Tennessee defense limited a good Alabama offense and if it wasn’t for three missed field goals, the Vols’ offense did enough to win the game.

This week, Tennessee will once again be on the road for a Halloween matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats.

Kentucky lost to Mississippi State 42-16 on Saturday, but this is a much better Kentucky team than the Vols have seen in recent seasons.

Here’s a look at this season’s Vols-Wildcats matchup:

2015 Season Notes

- Picked by media to finish 6th in SEC East in preseason.

- Not ranked at any point this season.

- Biggest win of the season came over then No. 25 Missouri. The Tigers are now unranked and have lost four of their last five games.

- Have allowed 33 points per game in last three games after allowing 21 per game in first four games.

Kentucky player to watch:

Stanley “Boom” Williams

In a season where Kentucky has seen an improvement in their offense, “Boom” Williams has been a big reason why.

Williams has rushed for 551 yards and three touchdowns through seven games, giving the Wildcats a rushing attack that they lacked that season.

Although Alabama running back Derrick Henry ended up with 143 yards against the Vols last week, Tennessee did a good job not letting him ever get a big run to bust the game open.

That will once again be important with Williams who has good speed and has shown that he can break long runs.
